Firearm Sales & Transfers

FIREARM PURCHASES

Since Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing is a Licensed Federal Firearms Dealer, our clients contact us to find a particular new or used firearm to purchase. We utilize our network of distributors, wholesalers, and manufacturers to find what they're looking for at competitive prices. If they agree to the price—which is often under retail—they pay us the total cost of the firearm (including tax, shipping, and insurance) at the time the order is placed, or they may pay a nonrefundable deposit toward their purchase. Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing will determine that amount.

When the firearm arrives, we schedule an appointment to meet at our licensed premises. Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing and the client complete BATFE Form 4473, a background check is conducted on the client, and once the FBI's NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) issues a "Proceed" response, the transaction is concluded. Clients must present their valid Michigan Driver's License upon arrival. The background check may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days.

Please note that the State of Michigan also requires the client to sign a "Trigger Lock Statement," and in the case of a handgun or AR/AK pistol, to sign a "Pistol Sales Record" in triplicate: one original record is retained by Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing, one by the client, and the client must deliver the third original to the local police or county sheriff's office where the client permanently resides. If the firearm does not come with a trigger lock, the client may bring one from home or purchase one from us.

FIREARM TRANSFERS

Oftentimes, clients purchase firearms online from retailers or from auction sites like "GUNBROKER.COM," and we welcome that! By federal law, the retailer cannot ship firearms directly to the purchaser; they can only ship to "FFLs," Federal Firearms Licensed dealers. Upon purchasing their firearm from an online retailer, auction site, or dealer, they will request that Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing send our Federal Firearms License to the seller, who will then ship the firearm to us. Once we receive the firearm, we follow the same procedure as described in the second paragraph above for purchases. The only difference is that there is a $50 cash transfer fee that the client pays to Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing before the transaction is concluded.

NFA Sales (National Firearms Act Firearms)

NFA purchases include the sale or transfer of NFA items, including suppressors/silencers, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and automatic weapons. Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing is licensed to deal with these types of firearms and products. However, the paperwork is more involved—and expensive—and is best described in person. Also, note that it can take anywhere from three to 18 months for these transactions to be approved by the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. Nevertheless, each year, more and more people are purchasing suppressors/silencers, and the federal government is working to decrease the wait time for consumers to receive their NFA item(s) sooner (usually between three months and a year). Don't let the wait time keep you from owning an NFA item. IMPORTANT: Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing deals in all NFA items except for automatic weapons. In the rare case that we do, it is restricted to our business with law enforcement agencies.

ACCESSORIES, TOOLS & OTHER ITEMS FOR PURCHASE

Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing also sells an assortment of accessories, tools, and cleaning kits for your firearms, like optics, sights, holsters, slings, grips, red/green dots, weapon lights, and many other items. We even have ammunition in popular calibers. However, we don't usually keep accessories in stock, but we can order them and have them here in about a week to 10 days, depending on availability. Most, if not all, of our pricing is competitive or below retail.
